A sailor, a pilot, a film director, a plumber, a mother, a teenage girl — all heard a mysterious voice. At a critical moment in their lives, they received distinct instructions or a serious warning. In every case the spiritual message was a surprise, totally unexpected. The impact on the person involved is seen to be life-changing.

The first two experiences occur during World War II, where servicemen face near certain death but upon ‘hearing a voice’, act on the instruction and in doing so save their lives. The remaining experiences occur during times of peace, from the 1970s to the 2000s. An interesting incident occurs in 1999, when a man hears ‘a voice’ to slow down his car in order to avoid a serious accident. Others were given to a woman to avoid an assault, to a man warning that he needed to do more to save his home from destruction. Two incidents were described to the author personally by those who actually experienced it.

These experiences occurred all over the world: in the Pacific Ocean, in Europe, in the USA, in Australia, and in England. The nationalities of those involved are quite varied, as are the backgrounds of all concerned. The one common thread is ‘the voice’. The long term impact on each person is profound. They were all transformed to some extent, evolving into a person exuding calm confidence, with a belief system of being of value, of having something worthwhile to give.

In many cases the message was given as a clear, forceful instruction. In other cases the message was more subtle. What are these spiritual messages? In most cases, they are ‘heard’ as a line of thought inside the mind but in a tone that is completely foreign to a normal thought.

These experiences appear to be extremely rare: they may occur just once in a whole lifetime. Some may not experience them at all.  However, from these personal accounts it is apparent they do occur. How do we explain them? Do they originate from somewhere ‘out there’? Are they of a mystical nature? Is there really some form of ‘intelligence’ looking over us? If so, in what form? These questions and more are left to the reader to decide.
